I think it is arrogant and pathetic that Olmsted Falls Superintendent Todd Hoadley feels that the Olmsted Falls school system is that special to be entitled to more money than any other school district in Ohio. The old saying "A lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on our part" should be an example to Mr. Hoadley. This school district is facing what every school district has had to face. Levies and funding should have been secured before this school system got into this much debt. Like many others, they are using the excuse of the economy and their lack of "good" management to ask for money. I live in North Olmsted and my children go to North Olmsted City Schools. I admit that I would love to see my children in newer schools, more teachers, etc. and honestly believe the school district would too. You can't build new schools and operate the way this school system has and not know you are putting yourself in debt. The reality is that the schools themselves do not make the education because North Olmsted has earned the same Quality with Distinction in education that Olmsted Falls has. North Olmsted had levies on the ballot and worked diligently to get them passed. Sometimes they didn't and things had to be cut.

My advice to Mr. Hoadley is to go back to the residents of Olmsted Falls and let them pay for their children's education like every other resident of every other city has to do. After all, whenever I talk to someone from Olmsted Falls, they talk about how superior their school district is compared to all others. Not realizing that the person they are talking to is proud to live in a city with the same education distinction. Now..... it is time for them to put their money where their mouth is. If they don't pass your levies, then their children get taught in crowded classrooms and schools that could use some upgrading. If you need advice, I'm sure the wonderful staff of the North Olmsted City Schools will share with you the hard work and dedication they had to endure to finally get ours passed. Not passing your levies once and then crawling to the government with your tail between your legs is not setting a good example to your students. Show them what hard work is all about and start knocking on doors explaining to their parents what will happen if they don't pass the next levy. I think it is sad that people starting flocking to Olmsted Falls because they had to have a new house, but now can't afford to pay a little bit more in taxes for their children's education. Sounds like a city problem, not a government problem. I personally don't want my tax money paying for your children to go to school when it can also be used in my school district. Sounds like Mr. Hoadley and his school district need a little schooling themselves.
